SpaceWERX is the innovation arm of the U.S. Space Force and a part of AFWERX, powered by the Air Force Research Laboratory.

We blend the best of commercial innovation with the needs of the men and women of the U.S. Space Force who depend on space technology to do their jobs.

Headquartered at the Los Angeles AFWERX hub, SpaceWERX inspires and empowers collaboration with innovators to accelerate capabilities and shape our future in space. Major technology trends that affect our national security continue to emerge from private industry, academia, and the government. The U.S. Space Force’s competitive advantage is our ability to identify, validate, acquire, and integrate those technologies quickly. Accordingly, SpaceWERX seeks to form collaborative partnerships between the military’s operational experts and the top problem solvers in industry, academia, and the government.

Purchasing/Contracting Needs:

SpaceWERX is looking at anything that can deliver Space-based capability through either direct or adjacent means. Typically, we are looking technology areas to be built out for full prototype potential within two years of inception of working within the DoD for that specific technology; however, that requires a market to either already exist or a process be initiated to create requirements for that market to exist in the short to near-term.

Captain Cody Bronkar, Venture at SpaceWERX

Cody Bronkar is an active duty Captain helping manage and shape the way the Space Force allocates its SBIR/STTR budget. Cody has an active role in merging both the internal and external government communities to problems and solutions that exist in our current environment all in support of the National Defense Strategy. While previously a cyber professional in both the Air and Space Forces at the operator and headquarters levels, he brings a technical prowess to understanding how tech is able to merge into all levels of the Space Force. Cody works with the Program Executive Officers and Operators throughout the Space Force on how each are wanting to strategically expend their budgets while utilizing SpaceWERX resources to bridge the gap of capability development. His previous experience within both AFWERX and SpaceWERX allows for a unique ability to realize how to connect entities throughout the ecosystem to deliver utility to the warfighter.
